Eclipse Bank prepares for new branch location

St. Matthews-based Eclipse Bank is expanding its community banking footprint with a new branch in the Hurstbourne area.

The new, 5,500 square foot branch will be located at 400 N. Hurstbourne Parkway and is expected to open by the end of 2020. It will be a full-service, free-standing location offering the same personal and business banking services that existing clients of the bank already enjoy.

Andrew Pyles, president and CEO of Eclipse, said the move to the North Hurstbourne corridor was strategic, as the area has undergone some significant development in recent memory, with the ShelbyHurst Office Campus and the planned $100 million redevelopment of the Hurstbourne Business Park.

He said the move conveniently positions the bank in several submarkets, including Middletown where he wants to eventually expand further, and it provides access to much of the East End as well.

“This investment is just the latest step toward our vision of becoming Louisville’s Community Bank,” Pyles said in a news release. “As out-of-town banks close offices and local competitors consolidate, we see an opportunity to fill that void. This location will allow us to better serve East Louisville, including the Middletown, Lyndon and Hurstbourne communities.”

Jeb Hollenbach, agent for Horizon Commercial Realty, represented Eclipse Bank in the transaction though the amount of the lease was not disclosed.

Pyles said the building is basically ready to go, and because it used to be an Old National Bank branch location, the primary expenses associated with moving in will be the new signage and installing the bank’s IT systems.

“This property was really a no-brainer for us,” Pyles wrote in an email. “It already has proven results as a bank branch, it’s essentially move-in ready, it checks our traffic count and ingress/egress boxes, plus the size allows more room for our growing team.”

The new branch will initially create four jobs, including an office manager and three retail associate positions. Pyles said he’s already in talks with potential candidates for the management position and anticipates Eclipse will reach 30 employees across both its locations by the end of the year.

“We’re delighted to take this next step in our growth process,” Pyles said. “We will continue to seek out opportunities that position us to better serve our clients and our community’s banking needs.”
